AirFreight.bid was incubated back in 2013 when a client posed a challenge to the management team of TOTALogistix.  The client, a multinational organization, and one of the top 25 importers in North America, was struggling. Their corporate supply chain leaders were tasked with reducing cost and improving the process of managing a huge airfreight spend on behalf of all of their operating divisions.

Up until that point, each of the 11 distribution centers (DCs) worldwide, was handling their air shipments independently.  Corporate had no visibility or control. Costs were skyrocketing.

The client wanted to know how TOTALogistix could help.

Working in close collaboration with their client, TOTALogistix proposed a new workflow which involved the estimation, bidding and tendering of all airfreight shipments. A transparent tool that allowed the operators to view all quote options, vetted carriers, and booked shipments was developed.  In addition to this, a “nice to have” feature was the ability to invoice electronically.

TOTALogistix took this client’s entire process and flow of airfreight procurement and reverse engineered it.  The outcome of this is AirFreight.bid.
